ClearStream AIR Study Evaluates Safety of Second-Hand E-Liquid Vapor

One of the biggest health and safety questions facing the growing electronic cigarette industry is whether e-liquid vapor is a danger to bystanders. A study seeking to understand the impact of secondhand vapor has been completed with results presented at the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco annual meeting held in Helsinki. The study nicknamed ClearStream AIR produced a paper and results poster shows clearly that "e-smoking does not produce detectable amounts of toxic and carcinogenic substances in the air of an enclosed space." While promising, more studies will need to be performed to better understand the health effects of e-cigarette vapor in an enclosed space.
